Caribbean to Volcano Romantic Getaway

Day 1

Arrive to San Jose, Costa Rica and welcome to your romantic getaway! Tonight you spend the night in San Jose. Enjoy a dinner at Tin Jo, one of the cities tastiest restaurants in the downtown area.

Overnight: San José Area

Day 2

After breakfast you are met by your driver. Your private transfer will take you to the Caribbean coastal town of Puerto Viejo where the turquoise sea meets the verdant jungle. Check into your bungalow hotel and enjoy the afternoon. Enjoy dinner at one of Puerto Viejo's most flavorful restaurants.

Day 3

A day in the Caribbean to relax on the beach. We will offer suggestions of activities and restaurants.

Day 4

After an early breakfast you hike through the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Along the way, you travel from the beach path into the jungle, where the diversity of flora and fauna is beautiful and abundant. A local guide from the neighboring village of Manzanillo will lead you through the trail and show you the wonders of his ‘backyard,’ while explaining the medicinal, culinary, and other uses of many of the trees, fruits and plants along the way. After the hike the afternoon is up to you to enjoy.

Day 5

Early this morning you head straight to the banks of the Pacuare River for an unforgettable day of white water rafting. This most scenic river slices through primary rainforest and plunges through mountain gorges. The most beautiful waterfalls drop into the river right alongside your raft. You stop along the river to enjoy waterfalls and a delicious lunch. Once out of the river you get on the Exploradores Outdoors vehicle headed to La Fortuna. You are dropped off at your hotel door. * Ask about adding an overnight rafting excursion!

Day 6

The day is yours in La Fortuna. We have reserved a romantic spot at Natural Hot Springs and a candle light dinner this evening.

Day 7

Fly on a forest canopy zip line in the morning! The rest of the day is yours.

Day 8

Transfer to Poas Volcano Lodge for a romantic end to your getaway. This lodge is situated in the magical cloud forest. In the early evening enjoy a glass of wine in the lodges extensive library. There is a nature trail on the grounds and the food is fantastic!

Day 9

Transfer to SJO airport after breakfast with memories to last a lifetime from your tropical romantic getaway!
