Day 1
After arriving in San Jose, make your way
directly to the famous topiary gardens of Zarcero on our way to the mighty
slopes of the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica's most active volcano. In the afternoon
and evening, relax in the magical Tabacon Hot Springs and witness lava exploding
out of the volcano. A truly incredible sight!

Overnight: La Fortuna
Day 2
Start the day hiking to the La Fortuna waterfall
which pours straight out of the rainforest. Swim in the beautiful pools
at the base of the waterfall and take a first look at the lush rainforest.
After the waterfall, continue the journey around Lake Arenal and into the
misty cloud forests of Monteverde. On the way stop for snacks and native
crafts at the lakeside Toad Hall. Upon arrival in the cloud forest, visit
the Monteverde Biological Cloud Forest Preserve or the Monteverde Butterfly
Garden.

Day 3
Explore the canopy of the cloud forest on
the SkyTrek. Zipline from treetop platform to platform on a system of cables.
Orchids, bromeliads and ferns share this aerial existence with an abundance
of wildlife. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the resplendent
quetzal. Spend the afternoon visiting the Monteverde Biological Cloud Forest
Preserve, which is acclaimed as one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries
in the New World Tropics. End the day with a visit to the Orchids of Monteverde,
which boasts a collection of over 100 different types of orchids.

Day 4
In the morning, head directly to the Pacific
beach town of Manuel Antonio. Along the way, see giant crocodiles from the
bridge above the Tarcoles River and stop for lunch in the surf town of Jaco.
Spend the afternoon in Manuel Antonio kayaking and snorkeling on beautiful
coral reefs and exploring the many remote, white sand beaches of the area.

Day 5
Your day begins hiking through the beautiful
Manuel Antonio National Park, home to sloth, toucans, parrots and three
species of monkeys. Spend the afternoon exploring the area or relaxing on
the beach.

Day 6
Have a leisurely morning soaking up some
more Pacific sun and surf, or continue your exploration of the area. In
the afternoon, make your way back to San Jose. Relax in the city and get
ready for tomorrow's run down the Pacuare River.

Day 7
Head to the banks of the Pacuare River for
an unforgettable day of white water rafting. The Pacuare, one of the world's
most scenic rivers, slices through virgin rainforest and plunges down mountain
gorges, while beautiful waterfalls cascade from far above. The beauty of
the river is equally coupled with the thrill and the challenge of the Class
III and IV rapids. Stop on the riverside for an excellent picnic lunch.
When your run down the river is complete, return to the hotel for a final
night in San Jose.

Day 8
Depending on departure time, there may be
time to visit the National Museum that houses artifacts dating back 12,000
years or to visit one of San Jose's crafts markets where you can purchase
mementos of your Costa Rican Adventure. Then board the plane filled with
unforgettable memories!
